• This submittal shall be made in a timely manner to suit the Contractor's overall <br />construction schedule, but no later than 21 days prior to placing the concrete. <br />1.5 Quality Assurance <br />Perform the work in accordance with the referenced ACI and ASTM standards. <br />The aggregate sources chosen shall be capable of producing materials of the quality and <br />quantity required for this project provided suitable processing is performed. Samples from <br />any source selected consisting of not less than 150 pounds of each size of coarse aggregate <br />and 75 pounds of fine aggregate, taken under the supervision of the approved Testing <br />Facility in accordance with CRD-C 100. The Testing Facility shall be responsible for <br />sampling, shipment and testing of the samples at the Contractor's expense. <br />The evaluation of the aggregates shall be completed within 14 calendar days of receiving <br />the samples. Testing shall be performed in accordance with the applicable CRD or ASTM <br />test methods. Tests to which aggregate shall be subjected are listed in the paragraph in <br />Part 2 entitled "Quality". The material from the proposed source shall meet the <br />requirements of that paragraph in order to qualify for use on this project. <br />Prior to commencing concrete mix design, the Contractor shall notify the Engineer of the <br />source and brand name, and supply the mill certificates and analyses of each cementitious <br />• material to be used in the manufacture of the concrete. All specified sampling and testing <br />shall be performed at the expense of the Contractor. <br />PART2-PRODUCTS <br />2.1 Cement <br />Portland cement shall conform to ASTM C150 Type I/II, Type II or Type V, depending <br />upon the requirement for sulfate resistance of the mix. The source of the cement to be used <br />shall be indicated and manufacturer's certification that it complies with the applicable <br />standard shall be provided with each shipment. Only one brand of cement shall be used for <br />all the work, unless otherwise approved by the Engineer. <br />2.2 Fly ash. <br />Fly ash shall be Type F and conform to ASTM C 618-94a with the additional requirements <br />that the percent of Ca0 shall not exceed 10 percent and the Loss on Ignition shall not <br />exceed 6 percent. In addition, the Sulfate Resistance Factor R, equal to (Ca0% - 5%) <br />(Fe203 %), shall be less than 0.75. <br />The source of the fly ash to be used shall be indicated and the manufacturer's certification <br />that it complies with the applicable standard shall be provided with each shipment. Only <br />• one brand of fly ash shall be used for all work, unless otherwise approved by the Engineer. <br />03300-3 <br />
