• • • <br />Powerline Removal Costs <br />(Using 2008 Means Heavy Construction Cost Data, page 32) <br />The 2007 cost estimate lists 12 steel and 28 wooden poles that will have to be removed at the end of the mine for final reclamation and closure. <br />Means 2008 costs for powerline removal are: (1) 20 to 30 ft high poles = $170.50 each + $73 for each cross-arm between 4 and 6 ft. and <br />(2) 35-45 ft high poles = $205 each + $73 per cross-arms. Means does not distinguish between steel and wood for its cost estimate. <br />Assuming CC&V's poles are the higher ones and two cross-arms per pole, this would be: (205 + 146) x 40 = $ 14,040 <br />If CC&V increases the number of poles by an assumed percentage to account for the MLE project, then the total number of poles is: <br />Input the percentage to increase for MLE: 20 % Assumes new powerlines will be built to accommodate new facilities <br />$ 16,848 =Powerline Removal Cost <br />MDE (2-21-08) <br />
