Main project area hydrologic conditions
Groundwater
19
Groundwater data in the Gold Run drainage are collected from three monitoring wells in
the underlying granite: GRWM-1, GRMW-2, and GRMW-3. Current monitoring well
locations are. shown on Figure 3.1. The period of record, water quality statistics, water
level and field parameter data summaries have been compiled for monitoring wells
GRMW-1A, GRMW-2A, and GRMW-3A, and are provided in Tables A29 through A31
(Attachment A), respectively. Groundwater levels in GRMW-1A vary from 144.0 to 149.3
feet bgl. Groundwater levels in GRMW-2A vary from 54.1 to 76.74.2 feet bgl.
.Groundwater levels in GRMW-3A vary from 139.2 to 158.8 feet bgl.
Groundwater samples from GRMW-1A and GRMW-3A are characterized as calcium-
sulfate-bicarbonate waters. Groundwater from GRMW-2A is characterized as calcium-
sulfate water. A piper plot (Figure 3.9) shows the major ion water chemistry for the Gold
Run groundwater monitoring wells. Data show average field pH values of 6.9 su, 7.0 su,
and 7.4 su in GRMW-1A, GRMW-2A, and GRMW-3A, respectively. Data show average
nitrate values of 0.03 mg/L in GRMW-1A, GRMW-2A, and GRMW-3A. Data show
average sulfate values in of 707 mg/L, 1,723 mg/L, and 184 mg/L in GRMW-1A,
GRMW-2A, and GRMW-3A, respectively.

•
2736 Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company
Water Management Consultants
