STATE OF COLORADO
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION, MINING AND SAFETY
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Phone: (303) 866-3567
FAX: (303) 832-8106
April 29, 2008
Mr. Jerry Nettleton
Environmental Supervisor
Twentymile Coal Company
29515 Routt County Road 27
Oak Creek, CO 80467
Re: Foidel Creek Mine, Permit No. C 1982-056, TR61 Request for Decision Extension
Dear Mr. Nettleton:
COLORADO
DIVISION O F
RECLAMATION
MINING
- &-
SAF ETY
Bill Ritter,lr.
Governor
Harris D. Sherman
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cottony
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
Twentymile Coal Company has provided a copy of the CDRMS Annual Reclamation Report Form for
Calendar year 2007. The Division identified one probable error on this form.
1. The number of acres in long-term mining or reclamation facilities should not exceed the
total number of cumulative disturbed acreage. TCC reports total cumulative disturbed
acres as 498.1, whereas the reported acreage in long-term mining or reclamation facilities
as 498.4 acres. Please correct these figures so that they are in agreement.
The Division is in the process of rectifying the acres reported in the DRMS database with the acres
reported by the operator. The Division's database indicates that TCC is approved the disturb 517.81
acres. TCC reports a total of 498.1 disturbed acres. Has TCC received approval to disturb 19.71 acres
more than they have actually disturbed? TCC's attachment of disturbance acreage by area is very helpful
(page 4 of 2007 ARR) is very helpful in resolving this difference. If TCC is aware of unreported
disturbance or acreage approved for disturbance but not yet disturbed, please provide these values to the
Division.
Please find a copy of the Division's review of TCC 2007 Annual Reclamation Report included with this
letter.
Sincerely,
Janet Binns
Environmenta Protectio
X303) 866-4 4
C://jhb/C82056/Reports/ARR/2007 ARR memo.doc
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver Grand Junction Durango Active and Inactive Mines
