Figure 6 -Effect of MLE on area traffic volumes and travel patterns, Year 2024
As indicated in the Figure 6, total traffic on CR 82 on either side of the Ironclad access is
projected to decrease. Also on CR 82 on either side of the Ironclad access, the
percentage of mine related traffic is projected to be significantly less than the Year 2015
levels. At the Carlton access, although total traffic in Year 2024 is projected to be more
than Year 2015, the percentage of mine related traffic is expected to be less than the Year
2015 levels.
Future Traffic Operations
Between the current Year and Year 2024, the largest increase in the total daily traffic
volume will be about 190 vehicles per day. This will occur on SH 67 west of the Carlton
access. Assuming that 15 percent of this increase occurs during the PM peak hour, the
PM peak hour traffic will increase only by about 30 vehicles per hour. This increase will
not cause a significant reduction in the traffic operational level of service for Year 2024,
either on the adjacent roadways, or at the Carlton and Ironclad mine access intersections.
Future total traffic at the two mine access intersections will operate at levels of service
that are not significantly lower than the current traffic operational levels of service.
