Gold recovery from the VLF will
continue through approximately Year 2024, at which time the VLF reclamation is
projected to begin. During this time, a major portion of mine related traffic will have
been discontinued. The only mine related traffic will be those necessary vehicles to carry
on the gold recovery operations and begin mine reclamation.
It is currently difficult to project the reduction in mine traffic that will occur when only
gold recovery operations are occurring, but it is expected that the mine related traffic
reduction will be significant. For the purposes of this study, it is estimated that with the
exception of mine related truck trips and deliveries associated with gold recovery
operations, all mine related traffic will be reduced by 75 percent from the Year 2015
volumes. The truck trips and deliveries associated with gold recovery operations are
assumed to remain the same for Year 2024 as Year 2015. Background or non-mine
related traffic is expected to continue to grow at two percent per year. Figure 6 shows the
Year 2024 traffic volumes and patterns based on the above assumptions.
Interstate Engineering, Inc. 12 April, 2008
