• areas of the existing Main Cresson Mine, extend mining to the north into the Wildhorse
Extension ("WHEX") of the East Cresson Mine, and extend mining to the north of the
Schist Island Mine in the areas of the prior Globe Hill Mine. Processing and recovery of
the additional gold will be completed through a Phase 5 extension of the existing VLF.
Overburden resulting from mining in these extension areas will be placed into other
portions of the existing Main Cresson Mine, East Cresson Mine, and North Cresson Mine
as mine backfill or placed for storage in the existing Squaw Gulch Overburden Storage
Area ("SGOSA"),anew lob called the SGOSA Extension, or in the proposed new East
Cresson Overburden Storage Area ("ECOSA"). The Coblentz geology building and the
existing crusher maintenance building will be demolished and these facilities will be
reconstructed to facilitate mining in the extension areas. The MLE will be implemented
within the approximate employment levels anticipated for Amendment No. 8
(approximately 330 employees) and will be mined with a similar fleet of equipment and
at production rates as described in Amendment No. 8. This proposed MLE activity will
increase the anticipated mine life from 2012 to approximately 2016 and will include
increases in the anticipated processing and rinsing/reclamation timeframes.
There are no significant changes to the following facilities or elements approved for the
• Cresson Project under Amendment No. 8 and subsequent technical revisions:
^ Post Mining Land Use
^ Overall Reclamation Plan
^ Explosives facilities
^ Ironclad Maintenance facilities
^ Employment
^ Crushing facilities
^ Adsorption, Desorption and Recovery ("ADR") Processing Facility
^ Laboratory
^ Overall mine drainage plan and storm water management plan
^ Air Quality Monitoring
^ Surface Water Quality Monitoring.
The following project elements will change under the Cresson MLE:
^ The categories of affected acreage within the permit boundary
• Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company
Cresson Project Mine Life Extension
1-3
