THOMPSON PROPERTIES
P.O. BOX 3
GRANBY, CO 80446
(970) 8873710
August 1, 2008
Mr. Tony Waldron
Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety
Minerals Section RECEIVED
1313 Sherman Street Suite 215
Denver, Colorado 80203-2273 AUG 0 6 2008
Division of Reclamation,
Dear Mr. Waldron: Mining and Safety
Re Thompson Resource aka Horn Gravel Pit
Permit No. M-1983-102, 2008 Annual Report
Our files indicate that the anniversary date for this
permit is August 2, 2008. This pit HAS NOT been granted a
Temporary Cessation and it HAS operated more than 180 days this
year. The Financial Warranty for this operation is $111,500.00,
the permitted area is 70.12 ac.± and has a single Reclamation
Phase. As required in Rule 1. 6 the MINE PERMIT SIGN is at the
entrance to the pit and the boundary has been outlined with posts
to delineate the Permit Boundary.
Groundwater monitoring results are attached for the 3
monitoring wells installed in June 2007. This data is needed to
establish a trend in ground water elevations for the site. It
seems to fluctuate during the year based on the amount of irriga-
tion that takes place on up gradient properties. Additional data
is needed to complete a cycle and we do not plan to start mining
in the next year in the new area, so additional data will be
available prior to that time. From this we can show a trend that
will let us establish the final floor elevation.
The annual report requirements in the MLRB Rules and Regula-
tions, and the annual review letter are addressed in the follow-
ing report. Please refer to the 2008 ANNUAL REPORT MAP submitted
with this text for the locations of the areas discussed.
(1) Mining continued on area previously disturbed on the west
side of the mine. A minor amount of new floor area was
created in this area (purple). The areas show as partially
mined have been stripped of topsoil and the topsoil is
stockpiled in the area shown on the map (yellow). We esti-
mate there is 10,000 cy stored on the mine in various loca-
tions. At the current time we have 26.05 acres ± disturbed
in the pit (cross-hatched). Of the total area disturbed at
this time 18.15 acres ± is floor area that will become a
graded parking area when reclamation is complete (brown);
and 0.98 acres ± is partially reclaimed; and 1.67 acres is
topsoil stockpile areas (yellow). The remaining 7.40 acres
is stripped ready for mining. Approximately 0.97 acres were
