The operator measured the water level in the former fan shaft where pump installation and
mine dewatering are planned. The water level was measured at 322.1 feet below the grate
covering the shaft.
Support Facilities
Dewatering of the mine to the new dewatering pond has not yet begun. At this time, pump
installation is scheduled for early September. Other facilities remain idle with no changes
observed.
Revegetation
The former SW coal stockpile area (below) is showing good establishment of grasses and
(orbs. Weed control activities were obvious at the West Portal area and appeared
successful.
Development Waste Pile
The top portion of the Development Waste Pile (DWP) was traversed from east to west.
Establishment of grasses and forbs appeared excellent due to recent moisture. Annual
weeds provide hydrologic cover and mulch appeared to be stabilizing soil and preventing
rilling on this area.
Overall, the site appeared in good condition for the summer season.
4
