and was heavily involved in the restoration of the church for the Victor
Community Center. CC&V has helped keep the Victor Hotel open by renting the
second floor for offices. CC&V has provided a communication tower site for
Victor emergency services and cell phone service. CC&V recently completed
over $1,000,000 in upgrades to the Victor water system.
As for further activities, CC&V committed to working with Teller County to
develop American Eagles into a park; CC&V has honored that commitment by
having American Eagles a park under the Teller County Park system. CC&V
committed to working with the local communities to bring a hospital to the
southern Teller County area; CC&V has honored that commitment by working
with many to bring to Woodland Park a first class facility in the Pikes Peak
Regional Medical Center. CC&V was made aware by the Southern Teller County
Focus Group (STCFG) of the desire by the local communities for tourism
opportunities; CC&V has honored that request by working with STCFG to
develop or allow development of a system of seven trails and public sites around
the area on lands owned by CC&V. CC&V was requested to work with Cripple
Creek for the development of a heritage center; CC&V has honored that by
providing free of charge 16 acres that resulted in the development by Cripple
Creek of the Heritage Center. We could go on and on regarding CC&V's
commitments to the local communities and the honoring of those commitments
that have lead to positive developments for the local communities. Thus, we are
not aware of what is being raised in the June 5th letter.
Point Five - Train
For at least a decade, CC&V has been working with various groups affiliated with
Victor or Cripple Creek with respect to re-establishing a train linking the two
cities. Those various initiatives have waned for numerous reasons but CC&V's
desire to work with folks to develop a train linking the two cities remains.
Presently, due to the required grades and equipment requirements, the only
apparent feasible route for the train from Cripple Creek to Victor is across the
southern portion of the still active Valley Leach Facility (VLF). This is impossible
under State of Colorado requirements during operations and could only be
accomplished after reclamation of the VLF.
Currently there isn't an operator for such a train from Cripple Creek to Victor.
CC&V has been working with the current train operator and a train consultant on
facility design and opportunities. In addition, CC&V does not own all of the land
necessary to get a rail line from Cripple Creek to Victor.
Point Six - Antiquities
CC&V is working on a plan for relocation of those structures that will be impacted
by the MLE that are stable enough and can be relocated. The timeframe will be
determined by the timing of mining operations. The goal of this project will be to
relocate these structures to an area that is accessible to the public. We are
working with the STCFG to identify appropriate locations.
