<br />Whirlwind Mine <br />30100 5110 Road <br />Gateway, Colorado 81522 <br />3.0 SPILLS <br />Materials Containment Plan <br />Revision 2 <br />Prevention of spills of materials potentially harmful to people, property, and the <br />environment is a top priority when storing, handling, and using any of these materials. <br />Should a spill occur, it is of utmost importance that information regarding the containment <br />and clean-up of the spilled material be readily available to employees. This Materials <br />Containment plan serves as a guide to timely and appropriate actions to be taken for spills <br />of potentially harmful materials stored and used at the Whirlwind Mine. Please refer to <br />Appendix A for a History of Spills that have occurred at the Whirlwind Mine. The General Manager will evaluate this information and make a determination <br />as to whether or not a spill has occurred or is about to occur, and if required, will make the <br />required oral notifications to regulatory agencies. The agencies to be notified will vary <br />based on the type of materials, nature of the spill, and quantity of material spilled and may <br />include the National Response Center, the Colorado Department of Public Health and <br />Environment (CDPHE), the Mesa County Local Emergency Planning Commission, <br />2
