- Scarify the surface by using a trackhoe bucket or similar piece of equipment
to create numerous gouges in the cut slope. Gouge or pull the ground
surface and mulch toward the machine in a manner such that no less than
twelve inches (12") of vertical relief is created. These gouges shall be
sufficiently close,so that no more than eighteen inches (18") exists between
the crest of one gouge and the crest of an adjacent gouge, in any direction.
The scarified surface will be revegetated in accordance with these specifications (Task
6, Revegetation).
Measurement and Payment
There will be no measurement for payment. Payment for this task will be reflected in a
lump sum bid under Item 4 on the Bid Schedule. This lump sum bid will cover all costs
for labor, equipment and materials necessary and incidental to fulfilling this ;specification,
including distribution of the reduced slash, stockpiled topsoil and any other organic
materials available, ripping of the Project Area, and severely roughening the Project
area, including the acquisition and distribution of mulch materials. Payment will be made
only for the price bid in Item 4 of the Bid Schedule, and as work is completed and
approved by PROJECT MANAGER.
TASK 5 DRAINAGE CONSTRUCTION
A small channel will be constructed in order to convey flow from the south sidle of the
asphalt access road to an existing drainage channel. The constructed channel will be
approximately fifty feet (50') in length. PROJECT MANAGER will stake and flag the
location of the channel in the field prior to construction beginning.
The new channel segment will be constructed to the following specifications:
Upon completion, this channel will be trapezoidal in shape, the base being no less than
five feet(6) in width and the side slopes being no steeper than 2 H : 1 V. The width of the
ditch as measured from crest to crest will be no less than thirteen feet (13'). The total
depth of the ditch as measured from the base to the crest will be no less than two feet
(2.0'). The base of the channel must be constructed in a manner so that upon completion,
it is level as viewed in cross section (ie: as viewed perpendicular to the direction of flow).
Upon completion of excavation, the base and sides of the channel shall be lightly ripped
using the teeth of a track hoe or back hoe. The base and sides will then be fertilized and
seeded as described in Task 6, Revegetation.
Large rock encountered during excavation shall be used as rip rap upon completion of
excavation. The large rock separated from the slash during completion of Task 2 Slash
Reduction, shall also be used as rip rap material. These rock materials shall be placed
within the channel footprint so that the base of the channel and the sides are covered by
the rock in a random pattern.
9
i
