A
total of two (2) tons per acre, or approximately twelve (12) tons, of dried cow manure
shall be trucked to the mine site. This manure may be placed in separate piles adjacent
to, but not on, the asphalt road at the north side of the Project Area.
Measurement and Payment
Measurement and Payment for this task shall be on a per ton delivered. Payment shall
be based upon certified weight slips provided to the Project Manager. The price bid will
cover all costs necessary and incidental to purchasing, trucking and stockpiling the dried
cow manure at the Project Area. The unit price shall include all equipment, machinery
and labor necessary and incidental to complete the task as described in this
specification. Payment will be made only for the price bid in Item 3 of the Bid Schedule,
and as work is completed and approved by PROJECT MANAGER.
TASK 4 INCORPORATE MATERIALS
The reduced slash materials, any organic materials brought to the site as described in
Task 3, Provide Organic Materials, and the earthen materials segregated from the slash
(excluding the larger rock), as well as the soil materials stockpiled west of the slash
stockpile, shall be evenly distributed over the ground surface throughout the Project
Area. These materials shall be thoroughly mixed to the extent possible, so that no one
area receives a disproportionate amount of any one material type.
Following distribution of the soil and organic materials, the entire Project Area shall be
deeply ripped. Ripping shall occur parallel to the contour (perpendicular to the fall of the
slope) throughout the Project Area. Rippers shall be sunk a minimum of twelve inches
(12") into the ground. Ripper marks on the ground shall be spaced no further apart than
eighteen inches (18"), center to center.
It is likely that metallic or non-metallic-debris will be encountered during the ripping
operation. As specified in Task 1, Mobilization and Demobilization, these materials shall
be removed from the site and be properly disposed of. Debris removal is paid under
Task 1, Mobilization and Demobilization.
Following application of the soil and the organic materials and ripping, the area will be
severely roughened using a trackhoe or similar piece of equipment in the following
manner:
- Two (2) tons of certified weed free mulch shall be applied to the ripped
surface. Mulch shall be provided by CONTRACTOR, and shall conform to
Section 20.2 of the Revegetation Specifications, attached. All mulch shall be
certified as noxious weed free or noxious weed seed free by any authorized
State or County Officer. Documentation of certification shall be provided to the
PROJECT MANAGER prior too application of mulch. The mulch shall be evenly
distributed over the cut surface. Surface roughening will occur simultaneously
with distribution of the weed free mulch in order to prevent loss of the mulch due
to wind.
i
8
I .
