SECTION 22, T31 S, R65W <br /> I <br /> Task 6-Access Road Repair Work (East-West Section) <br /> The following work shall be performed on the access road that heads east and uphill from the <br /> old mine shop. See Map 4. <br /> Access Road Repair- Ruts are present over a 2,500 foot length of the access road beginning <br /> about 1600 feet southeast of the mine shop area. The rutted portions of the access road shall j <br /> be bladed smooth. <br /> i <br /> Culvert Maintenance-A culvert is located about 400 feet southeast of Pond 22-P10. The berm <br /> at this culvert shall be repaired and the runoff collection basin shall be deepened and reshaped. <br /> i <br /> i <br /> Measurement and Payment <br /> There will be no measurement for payment for Task#6. Payment for Task#6 will be reflected <br /> in a lump sum bid under Item 6 on the Bid Schedule. <br /> Task 7-Access Road Repair Work (East-West Section) <br /> Single Fence Rock Check Dam-A single fence rock check dam will be installed at the drainage; <br /> crossing near the crest of the access road (see Map 4). The outer edge of the dirt access road; <br /> is undergoing erosion at this point. The road will be repaired to its original width and the single <br /> fence check dam will be constructed across the drainage gully along the outside edge of the <br /> road according to drawing . <br /> i <br /> The single fence rock check dam consists of a wire mesh fence fastened to steel fenceposts or <br /> galvanized rebar strung at right angles across the gully (See Drawing 4). Loose rock fill will be <br /> piled against the upstream side of the fence. The steel posts shall be sufficiently strong to <br /> resist the pressure of the rock fill and water flow. These will be driven into the gully bottom and <br /> side slopes to a depth that insures their stability in saturated soil. If it is impractical to drive <br /> posts to sufficient depths, steel guy wires will be used to enhance the stability of the posts. Thej <br /> guys will be anchored to other posts that will be covered and held in place by the rock fill in the <br /> dam. Posts will be spaced 2 feet apart. The wire mesh shall be of sufficient strength to <br /> contain the rock fill without excessive pouching. The top of the mesh will be reinforced with %a <br /> inch aircraft cable that will be anchored into the sides of the gully. Loose rock fill will consist of <br /> well graded, durable, angular rip-rap with a D-50 of 12", a D-max of 18", and a D-min of 6". The <br /> rip-rap will be placed so that the crest of the spillway is level with the top of the fence. The <br /> crest width will be 2 feet. The upstream side slope of the dam will be at a ratio of 1 H:1 V. <br /> The bottom key will consist of a trench 3 feet deep and 2 feet wide extending across the gully <br /> bottom (see Drawing 4). The area for the apron will be excavated below the key and will extend <br /> three feet below the check dam. The apron excavation will be one foot deep. The key will be <br /> filled with angular rip-rap consisting of a mixture with 80% smaller than 6 inches. The material j <br /> will fill the key level with the gully bottom.
