20.0 REVEGETAT ON 20.1 DESCRIPTION This specification covers preparing the areas for seeding, furnishing seed, (if required), furnishing fertilizers, mulch and/or mulch stabilizers on all areas disturbed by the CONTRACTOR during project work or areas designated in the Special Conditions to be revegetated. The CONTRACTOR is responsible for -evegetating all areas disturbed during installation of closure elements, or during backfilling of a mine opening or other reclamation work. Revegetation must be factored into the bid for closure of each opening/area, unless a specific bid item for revegetation is included in the b d. 20.2 MATERIALS Seed The CONTRACTOR must give the PROJECT MANAGER at least two (2) weeks notice of the acreage to be seeded, so the PROJECT MANAGER can deliver the proper amount of seed. Fertilizers Commercial Fertilizer. Fertilizers shall be commercial grade diammonium phosphate (18-46-0) and free flowing, suitable for application with hydraulic- or pneumatic-type equipment or fertilizer spreaders and conforming to applicable Colorado State Fertilizer laws. Caked or lumpy fertilizer will not be accepted. The CONTRACTOR shall furnish a supplier's certificate of analysis and weight. All fertilizer shall be in a form readily available to plants. Commercial fertilizer shall be applied at the rate of 300 pounds per acre. Mulches Mulch shall consist of hay .or straw mulch, pest-free or weed-free to the extent possible. Approximately 30 percent by weight of the mulch material shall be ten inches (10") in length or longer. Rotted, caked, decayed or moldy material will not be accepted. Hay or straw mulch shall be applied uniformly at the rate of two (12) tons per acre. Hydromulch shall be applied at the rate.of one and a half (1 1/2) tons per acre. 20.3 EXECUTION The CONTRACTOR shall give the PROJECT MANAGER at least two (2) days notice of the time and place of starting his revegetation operations and shall continue to advise as to the schedule of operations. Revegetation may take pace at the completion of work at an individual opening if the CONTRACTOR so desires. Fertilizers Immediately prior to seedbed preparation, fertilizer shall be uniformly applied over the areas designated for seeding and immediately incorporated into the soil by tilling methods as discussed below.
