10 RECLAMATION PLAN EXHIBIT D
1. General Reclamation Plan
The total permit area is 9.96 acres. The road will remain through the site after reclamation. The
area of the access road is 0.42 acres. The amount of land that will be reclaimed to rangeland is
9.54 acres.
Reclamation will simultaneously be conducted as new areas are disturbed. It is probable that this
will occur in small increments throughout the year, by replacing topsoil and overburden in the
previously excavated areas. See Map E-3 for details. This will also help reduce the exposed land,
reducing the reclamation bond.
2. Topsoil Replacement
• The expected thickness of replacement soil, suitable for plant growth is 8-12 inches. This
replacement thickness is greater than the stripped thickness because material from the existing
stockpile will be used as subsoil. Soil will be replaced in Mining Area 1 first, which will occur
approximately 6 years into the operation. This will not happen immediately because the
operation needs the room on the pit floor. Soil will be replaced in Mining Area 2 upon
completion of mining, which occurs approximately 9 years after startup.
Table D-1 Reclamation nnantities

Area Area
(acres) Area to be
Topsoiled Topsoil
Required (CY)
Mining Area 1 4.72 4.72 6,320
Mining Area 2 5.24 4.82 6,454
Total 9.96 9.54 12,775

Pinion Ridge Pit, June 2008 D-1
