OTHER CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES
Other construction activities planned for the project area in 2008 may include
construction of the Beaver Slide ByPass Route and E seam MDW's pending approval of
the EIS statement and CDRMS permits. A water supply line may also be extended from
the USFS boundary in Sylvester Gulch up the Sylvester Gulch Road to the Two Ponds
site and beyond to the E seam MDW project area. The hosing and/or pipes would be
placed along side of existing roads wherever practical. The lines NN=ill be anchored to
prevent damage due to surging in the lines.
RECLAMATION SCHEDULE
It is MCC's intention to complete as much of the reclamation as is possible,
weather-permitting, during the 2008 summer season. Reclamation will begin after
approval of this AOP, as soon as weather permits, with the plugging and abandoning of
the MDW's indicated on Map 2 on the West Flatiron. Following the P & A of the
MDNVs, final reclamation of the pad sites and indicated spur roads would commence.
Final reclamation will consist of restoring the pad to the approximate original contours
(AOC) and then pulling the topsoil pile back across to provide cover and growth medium
for the USFS approved seed mix to be applied. Seeding and mulching would be
followed by the appropriate best management practices (BMP's) for that particular site
for sedimentation and erosion control.
RECLAMATION PLANT
MCC plans to final reclaim up to four of remaining pads on the 18-22 Panel mining areas,
leaving seven pads to be reclaimed in 2009 after they are no longer needed. These
locations are noted on the attached Map 2.
The following procedures will be utilized for final reclamation of these sites:
1. Remove all de-gas related equipment, housings and debris from the site.
2. Plug and Abandon the drill hole in accordance with approved procedures
(listed later in this AOP) and remove the well head. Note: On pad 24-
06/07 P&A has previously been completed.
3. A backhoe and a bulldozer will redistribute material on and around the
drill pad to achieve as closely as practicable the original contour of the
site. The area will then be ripped or scarified to leave an uneven surface.
4. Stored topsoil will be distributed as evenly as possible over the disturbed
pad area.
6
