•
2.04.7 Hydrology Description
The surface waters that will receive run-off from the area affected by the
underground workings are shown on Map 23. Both East Salt Creek and Big
Salt Wash will receive run-off from the area affected by the underground
mine. Only East Salt Creek has the potential to receive run-off from the area
disturbed by the underground mine.
Surface water flowing down the ephemeral drainages tributary to East Salt
Creek and Big Salt Wash is not used directly by local landowners. The
contribution of the ephemeral drainages to the local irrigation budget is
believed to be negligible. The ephemeral drainages only flow during spring
snowmelt and significant precipitation events. Run-off during spring
snowmelt does not help the irrigation budget. Run-off resulting from
significant precipitation events is likely to produce sediment laden water that
could damage the irrigation structures.
•
•
(4)(b) The location of monitoring stations used to gather data for water quality and
quantity is shown on Map 9, Hydrologic Monitoring Location. The elevation. of,
the stations is depicted on Map 9 and tabulated in Volume III Exhibit 3.
(4)(c) See Maps 10 & 11 which present the upper and lower perched water bearing
zones respectively.
(4)(d) See Map 9 Hydrologic Monitoring Location and Map 23, Water Rights
Location.
(4)(e) The location of existing areas of spoil, waste and non-coal waste is shown on
Map 25, Previously Mined Areas.
(4)(f) There are gas wells within the adjacent area are shown on Map 9. All water
wells within and adjacent to the permit area are shown on Map 23, Water
Rights Location.
(4)(g) The locations of test borings and core sampling are shown on Map 6,
Structure Contour Map, Top of Lower Cameo Seam
(5) No response required.
Permit Application
2.04-40
06/08
