Due to the uncertainty of the location of the potential water call, it is not known which headgate(s) would be shut
off. It is highly unlikely that this situation would ever occw.
L) A map prepared accordine to the standards of 2.10 showine:
f~ The locations of water sup~v intakes. ditches, reservoirs, and wells within a one mile
minimum radius of the affected area. current users of surface water flowine into, out of, and within a hydrologic
area defined by the Division, and those surface waters which will receive discharges from affected aeeas in the
proposedpermit area and adjacent area: ,
(bl Elevations and locations of monitorine stations used to gather data for water quality and
~ uanti
fc) Location and extent of sub-swface water. i~f encountered within the proposed permit or
adiacent areas. including but not limited to areal and vertical distribution of aquifers and estimate of seasonal
variations of aquifer characteristics on cross sections and contow maps as appropriate.
(d) Location of surface water bodies such as streams. lakes. ponds, springs. constructed or
natwal drains. and irrigation ditches within the proposed permit and adjacent areas:
~) Location and dimension of existine aeeas of spbil, waste, and non-coal waste disposah dams,
embanlanents, other impoundments. and water treatment and air pollution conVOl facilities within the proposed permit
area;
(f) Location, and depth, if available. of gas and oil wells within the proposed pernrit azea and
water wells in the Hermit area and adiacent area; and
fg) Elevation and location of test borings and core samplings.
RESPONSE
Identification of surface and ground water featwes which exist prior to underground mining, as well as water
monitoring stations used for baseline data collection, are shown on Map 13, Twentymile Park Hydrology, and Map
14, Five-Yeaz Mine Plan Baseline Hydrology. The facilities to be used for water handling and treatment, as well as
information on impacts of mining on water resowces, aze shown on Map 16, Water Control and subsidence
Monitoring Plans and Map 24, Surface Facilities.
Sub-surface water featwes, including extent and characteristics of aquifers, identification of monitor wells, and
elevation of water table and piezometric surface of aquifers are shown on Map 13, Twentymile Pazk Hydrology, and
Map 14, Five-Year Mine Plan Baseline Hydrology. In addition, locations of existing stream channels, impoundments,
irrigation ditches, and drains are shown on Map 15, Alluvial Valley Floors and Water Rights.
Areas of spoil, waste, non-coal waste disposal, water handling and treatment facilities, embartkrnents, and
impoundments are shown on Map 24, Surface Facilities, and Map 26, Fish Creek Borehole/Shaft Area Facilities
and Access Road. Elevations and locations of test borings and core samplings are shown on Map 12, Sample
Locations.
One oil and gas well exists within the pemtit boundary for the Southwest Mining District. The well was drilled
during 1975, and originally was completed as an oil well. However, the yield was insufficient and the well was
converted to a gas well. The well is approximately 7,500 feet in depth and its location is shown on Map 23.
Twentymile Coal Company acquired ownership of the well in 1993. The well was plugged by placing a cement
• plug in the well.
PR06-07 2.04-40 11/07/06
