r1
U
3.6.1.1 8lsctricsl Distribution system
Power for the Edna Mine is supplied from two separate powerlines.
one line serves the hilltop area, including the mining areas, and the other
serves the office and loadout area (Exhibit 3.6-2).
The hilltop powerline enters the eastern edge of the property
approximately 3/4 of a mile north of the shop area. This point is
designated as the metering station. From here, a powerline runs south down
the ridge to the bucket house. This line supplies power to the bucket
house and associated electrical equipment in this area. A new line has
been installed along an approved corridor which runs north along the ridge
from the metering station to provide power to mining equipment on Moffat.
This line has been constructed in accordance with standards for the
protection of eagles and other large raptors.
The power for the office area comes north from the Keystone
Substation to a distribution point due west of the bath house. This
• distribution point divides power into three powerlines. One serves the
pre-existing loadout system, one serves the office and new rapid load
system, and the remaining line parallels up the beltline serving the
beltline and shop area at the hilltop.
in addition to these powerlines, some privately owned powerlines
cross through the Edna Mine permit area. These lines include the Iocal REA
distribution lines as well as major transmission lines.
3.6.1 ROADS AND 98DINSNTATION PONDS
3.6.1.1 Roads
There are four different access roads at Edna Mine (Exhibit 3.5-1).
The southernmost access road, Skyline Drive, constructed prior to 1977 was
improved in 1976 by widening the road, improving the gradient (Exhibit
3.5-19), constructing ditches and replacing or adding culverts. The West
Ridge Road, built partially during the early 1970s as a haulroad to Center
Ridge, extended in 1979 to West Ridge as a haulroad and further extended to
• the south (during the 1980s) as an access road to form an intersection with
Mid-term '94 3.6-2 September 15, 1994
