2.03.8 Permit Term Information
The West Mine facility was constructed as a temporary coal handling
and haulage facility. The West Mine operated until the East and West
Mines were connected in 1993. The East Mine rehabilitation project
began in January 1992. The North Mains By-Pass entries were
developed to the II West Submains. The II West Submains were
developed from both the East and West Mines and they were
connected in mid 1993.
Mining ceased at the Bowie No. 1 Mine on December 4, 1997.
Reclamation at the Bowie No. 1 Mine was initiated during the fourth
quarter of 2000. The east mine was sealed. Structures at the east
mine were dismantled and removed except a portion of a coal bin and
an electrical substation. At the west mine, structures were removed,
the portals sealed, the fan dismantled and the fan shaft backfilled.
With the exception of the area around the sediment ponds, the west
mine was restored to approximate original contours. This phase of
the reclamation was completed during May 2002.
The operator requests the permit term be extended an additional five
• years. The loadout will be operated during the next permit term even
though the mine may not.
(3) Not applicable.

SO -4
-27-
Rev. 06/04
/1 PPRoVED
9~z ~~o ~{
