 Go
lder Associates
CONSULTING GEOTECHNICAL AND MINING ENGINEERS
August 29, 1984 Our Ref: 843-2054
Mid-Continent Resources , Inc.
Post Office Box 158
Carbondale, Colorado 81623
Attention: Mr. Douglas W. Bowman
Environmental Coordinator
Dear Doug:
Attached please find a copy of our letter of May 18, 1984, describing
proposed reclamation test sections. This includes a description of
each test section, the reclamation concept, and method of reclamation.
Also included are cross sections showing existing and reclaimed config-
urations for each test section. The proposed test locations are indi-
cated on both the test section descriptions and cross sections ; it will
be necessary for you to review them and decide on the final test loca- ,
tions.
We hope this information is sufficient for you to initiate construction
of the test sections. In addition to the details contained in this let-
ter, the following points should be considered.
o Surface water should be diverted around test fills such that construc-
tion does not impede existing drainages and surface water flows do not
cause erosion of the fills.
o All test fills should be compacted in lifts not exceeding 12 inches in
loose thickness by routing the construction equipment uniformly over
the surface of the fill . Final in-situ fill density should be at least
90 percent of AASHTO T-99 (Standard Proctor).
o Excavation and fill construction should be approximately between the
stations and at the slopes indicated on the sections. We have made
no estimate of the excavation and fill volumes.
o A site visit by a Golder engineer is scheduled following construction
of the test sections. Following this visit, a report to MLRD will be
prepared. The report is due on November 30, 1984. The report will
present as-built drawings and recommendations on further monitoring.
GOLDER ASSOCIATES.INC.- 17301 W.COLFAXIIAVENUE.SUITE 275.GOLDEN(DENVER).COLCRADO 80401 U.S.A.-TELEPHONE 1303)278 8662
