bordering the mine plan adjacent area to the south is subject
" • to severe landsliding.
One spring exists in the Clear Fork of the East Muddy
Drainage adjacent area and is located in the NW4i SE4 of
Sec. 14, T. 10S, R. 90W on an intermittent drainage of Rock
Creek. * This -is felt to be a landslile related feature
occurring as. seepage in a poorly drained area. r'rat
Coal Basin Mine Affected Area, indicates this is a land-
slide area (Tweto, 1978) . The change of topography from
an even hillslope to an irregular drainage is also reflective
of this landslide condition.
There are no points of discharge from the Coal Basin Mine
• west of Huntsman Ridge, nor are any planned. The only planned
surface development on the lease area in the East Muddy Creek
watershed are the access roads to the test boring locations .
Mining will occur beneath the base area at a depth of approximately
2000 ft• over a 40-year period.
Drainage Description
Drainages off the west side of Huntsman Ridge are moderately
steep , averaging about a 20% slope. Hillslopes are character-
ized in places by an irregular topography indicative of land-
sliding in the area. Vegetation consists of aspen, spruce,
and scrub oak, with areas of open parks and meadows ; overall
.r.
