S . F . S . , 1976 , which selects preferred alternatives for the <br /> post-mining land use of the Coal Basin (see Chapter VI for <br /> discussion of the Thompson Creek Land Use Plan and proposed <br /> implementation by Mid-Continent of the U. S . F . S . land use <br /> goals) . <br /> Pitkin County notes in the permit that utilization <br /> • of roads from the coal preparation plant to each of the <br /> mines (within the permit area) are on national forest lands <br /> and subject to USFS Special Use Permit . <br /> U. S .F . S . Special Use Permit #734 was issued to <br /> Mid-Continent for construction and use of roads in Coal <br /> Basin (all included in the permit area) first in July 1954 . <br /> It has been updated by amendments in 1958 , 1961, 1965 , 1968 <br /> and 1973 as the road network has expanded . The current <br /> permit retains the same number (734) and is dated February <br /> 2 , 1980 . <br /> The U. S . F .
