EXHIBIT E
The planned are would be reclaimed for rangeland. The top soil will be stockpiled on
any are of extension for later reclamation use.
The top soil layer (approximately 6-8 inches) will need to be removed and stockpiled
for later use.
All slopes will be graded and shaped to 3:1 slopes or flatter.
Stockpiled top soil should be uniformly applied to the shaped and graded gravel pit
area.
The top soil will be disked and if needed chiseled to provide a good weed-free
seedbed. On site assistance may be needed for best recommendations for soil and
site conditions at the time of reclamation.
The cover crop will be hybrid sorghum. Seeding will be done across the slope at 6-10
pounds per acre from June 1 to July 15. The sorghum stubble should be left on
the site for soil protection and to collect snow for moisture.
The grass seeding operations are to be done between November 1 and May 1 into the
sorghum residue.
The grass will be seeded with a grass drill with double disc opener and depth band
control to place seeds at optimum depth. Seed across the slope on contour if at all
possible.
The seed mixture will be as follows: 100%
S ecies % Mix Lbs. Per Live
Per Acre
Switchgrass 20 0.80
Prairie Sandreed 20 1.40
Sand Bluestem 20 3.20
Yellow Indiangrass 20 2.00
Western Wheatgrass 10 1.80
Little Bluestem 10 0.70
All livestock will be excluded from the reclaimed area until the grass is well
established. The minimum established/deferment time will be three (3) full
growing seasons after seeding.
