ENYIRQNMENT~ 1NC. P3t.T. 2
C3RAN~ COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF RGAD & BRff3CiE
RED DIRT PIT M-2DDB'1]d$ ~ ADE[,lUAC3Y ftE8Pf7tyl~
APR-~ 10, 2008
roads and at the mine due to the limited operating season.
Grand County purchases water Pass Creek Ranch when working
in this area,
ltd). Page 7 paragraph 4 lists the equipment to be used on the
mine. finis includes processing plant equipment. Grand
County's processing plant includes screening plant and
conveyors operated as a portable system. The screening
plan includes crushers and screen decks as one unit.
There are no chemicals used in the processing. The en-
gines on the portable plants run on diesel and water is
used for dust control.
3(e). The processing plant will be on the level area show in the
old mine area. Its .location will vary each time it is
moved in so I have outlined a plant site area on the map
where processing will take place. A revised Exhibit E-1
is attached.
4(a). This is a typo, correction made on page 9. It should
match the seed rate shown on-page 4 (25#'s) which is the
upper limit in the USFS contract,
4(b). Another typo, correction made on page 4. It should read
October lst in both citations.
4(c). In the old mine area the benches .that have been left have
a fractured surface that were left when mining ended. So
in most cases we do not believe additional scarification
will be needed. However, Grand County will commit to
loosening any compacted seedbed area at lease 1 inch deep.
This will be done by using a ripper attachment or special-
ized farm equipment to disrupt the compacted area before
the area is resoiled. A cost associated with preforming
this activity has ,been added to the Reclamation Cost esti-
mate attached for ,your review.
4(d). Replanting of trees in not a part of our reclamation plan
or a requirement of the USFS contract. We placed that
statement in the application as a commitment of coopera-
tion IF the USES decided to plant trees. If the Division
misinterpreted it at a commitment to plant trees then I
apologize for being misleading.. To state is clearly,-Grand
County Road and Bridge Department will not attempt any reforestation of the site unless it is
in cooperation with the surface landowners (£ISFS}.
4(e). Attached is a copy of a noxious weed control plan the
county uses on its other mining operations. Noxious weed
spraying is handled by the Grand County Department of
Natural Resources as described in the Weed Control Plan.
