On May 28, 2004 at 7:00 am nitrogen flow to AS Well 28-21 was ended. At
total of 1,370,352 standard cubic feet of nitrogen gas was utilized to displace
212,582 gallons of solution. The detailed description of the nitrogen
displacement and the process control data are attached in Appendix C.
On June 21, 2004 ASLLP met with representatives of the BLM, EPA, and
CDMG to discuss the results of the cavity characterization. The CDMG and BLM
requested that ASLLP prepare an estimate of the maximum cavity diameter for
each production well in the wellfield based upon the results of the cavity
characterization of well AS 28-21.
3. Summary of Seismic Method
Upon completion of the seismic model, NSA forwarded a graphical
representation of the low velocity zones. ASLLP interpreted the edge of
the cavity from these zones and constructed a slice volume model of the
cavity.
The slice volume model and the drawing of ASLLP's interpretation are
attached in Appendix D. The slice volume includes both tons mined and
gallons of solution Jeff in place.
Historical production from well AS 28-21 totals 120,014 tons of
nahcolite produced and 12,722 tons of nahcolite in solution leff within the
cavity for a total of 132,736 tons mined. The seismic model predicts a
volume which represents 140,811 tons mined. The seismic model predicts
a volume 6% higher in tons mined than the historical production.
4. Summary of Displacement Method
On May 12, 2004, ASLLP initiated the displacement procedure.
On May 21, 2004 ASLLP had moved the gas/solution interface 39 feet
from 1680' to 1719' which resulted in the displacement of 121,262 gallons
of nahcolite brine.
On May 28, 2004 ASLLP had moved the gas/solution intertace an
additional 5 feet from 1719' to 1724' which resulted in the additional
displacement of 91,310 gallons of nahcolite brine.
The gas cap was moved a total of 44 feet resulting in a total
nahcolite brine displacement of 212,572 gallons.
5.
