2. Fluid Displacement -The fluid in the top ten to twenty feet within the
cavity would be displaced with nitrogen, carbon dioxide, or methane
gas and a cavity depth versus cavity volume relationship will be
established. This relationship can be used to cross check the seismic
representation of the cavity shape and size.
On February 19, 2004, ASLLP met with representatives of the EPA, CDMG,
and BLM to finalize the cavity characterization plan. ASLLP proposed the cavity
characterization on well 28-21 beginning in Late April of 2004 and to continue to
mine well 29-24 to a cavity diameter of 225 feet. Upon achieving 225' of cavity
diameter, the cavity on 29-24 would then be characterized using the seismic
method.
On April 1, 2004, American Soda, LLP a subsidiary of Solvay America, Inc.,
announced that solution mining activities at its Piceance Creek, Colorado
nahcolite mine and the dense soda ash production at Parachute, Colorado
would be mothballed due to high energy costs. The production ramp down is
scheduled for July, 2004 -October, 2004. Mothballing activities are scheduled
for October, 2004 -December, 2004.
2. Chronology of Seismic Profile and Displacement Characterizations
On April 26, 2004, NSA Geotechnical Services, Inc. initiated the downhole
seismic profiling of the solution mined cavern on AS Well 28-21. NSA's field
activities were concluded on April 29, 2004. NSA's report is attached in
Appendix A.
On April 30, 2004 ASLLP performed a temperature log of AS Well 28-21.
(Attached in Appendix B)
On May 10, 2004, Wellserv Intervention Services performed a series of
temperature.logs on AS Well 28-21 to establish the position of the nitrogen gas
cap. (Attached in Appendix B)
On May 12, 2004, ASLLP initiated the nitrogen displacement procedure on
AS Well 28-21.
On May 21, 2004, Wellserv Intervention Services performed a series of
temperature logs on AS Well 28-21 to establish the position of the nitrogen gas
cap. (Attached in Appendix B)
On May 28, 2004, Wellserv Intervention Services performed a series of
temperature logs on AS Well 28-21 to establish the position of the nitrogen gas
cap. (Attached in Appendix B)
