There will be no surface water quality impacts, other than storm water runoff that will be
controlled through appropriate storm water runoff measures. (All ore will be stored in the
existing ore bins.) In addition, the operation will be anon-surface water discharge facility.
Therefore, there will be no significant impacts to near surface ground water or surface water
quality. COAG maintains, at least for the proposed prospecting activity, that ground water
monitoring is not necessary at this time.
COAG will obtain all necessary permits required by the Water Quality Control Division,
Department of Public Health and Environment. Regardless, COAG will implement its own
Stromwater Management Plan. These measures will ensure that impacts to surface and
ground water quality will be minimized.
7. The proposed prospecting operation will require potable water and water for underground
exploration activities. Potable water will be purchased locally and hauled to the site. Water for
underground exploration activities will be obtained from existing pools of water in the existing
workings deeper in the Franklin Mine.
8. The requirements to describe how COAG will reclaim surface stockpiles does not apply
since there will not be any material stockpiled at the surface. As stated above, all ore brought to
the surface will be placed in the existing ore bins. Any waste rock will be disposed in existing
underground workings in the dry areas of the mine.
9. This item is addressed in # 6.1 and 6.2 above.
10. Please refer to the revised affected area map. The only structures to be utilized by the
proposed prospecting activity will be the shaft for ventilation (not the abandoned host house), the
functional host house and shaft for access and existing storage bins. These structures are the
property of the landowner. The landowner has given COAG permission to use these structures
during its prospecting operation. The ventilation shaft will have a DRMS approved cover. The
hoist house and ore storage bins will remain upon completion of the prospecting operation at the
request of the landowner and in a condition as specified in the landowner/COAG use agreement.
COAG will bring on site a portable office facility for use during the prospecting operation. No
other existing on-site structures or possible constructed structures will be used by COAG, unless
the Division is notified and COACT receives Division approval.
