This material will be from another
MLRB approved source within Gunnison County and used in the manufacture of asphalt.
Currently a land use application is pending approval by Gunnison County for the
placement of an asphalt plant on this site as allowed by the approved 110 permit.
The salient features of the proposed import are described below. Please note that the
intent of this proposal is not to permit M-85-023 as a dumpsite for unclassified fill or
other solid waste, which may or may not be the primary usage of Rule 3.1.5 (9). In this
case, the need to "backfill inert structural fill generated outside of the approved permit
area" would not be a result of bringing material onto the site for production from another
DRMS permitted area.
In accordance with the requirements of rule 3.1.5, the following is provided for your
information and review. Each letter corresponds to the equivalent subpart of Rule 3.1.5
(9)•
(a) Description of the Approximate Location of the Proposed Activity.
The Hollenbeck pit is located approximately five and one-half miles east of the City of
Gunnison and one-half mile south of Highway 50 on County Road 42. Local reserves
from other sites within the Gunnison region will be utilized for production materials. A
location map is attached. Stockpiles of imported material will be located
approximately has shown on Exhibit C2 of the 110 permit.
(b) The Approximate Volume of Inert Material to be Backfilled.
It is difficult to predict the volumes of construction aggregates that will be needed at
the site due to the nature of winning and losing paving contracts. However, during
the 6 month operating season it is estimated that 30,000-40,000 tons of material will
be required on-site.
720 Kipling St.,Suite117
Lakewood, Colorado 80215
(303) 274-4277
Fax (303) 274-8329 ~~
www. banksandgesso.com
