Phosphorus lP). A total of 20 Southfield samples were analyzed for
phosphorus. The average value of these samples was 1.1 ppm with low
values of 0.0 ppm in roof and floor samples for both seams and a high
value of 5.0 ppm in a Jack O'Lantern roof samples, (SF-46). With these
relatively low values no problems with toxicity or groundwater quality are
anticipated.
Potassium (K). A total of 20 Southfield samples were analyzed for
potassium. The average value of these samples was 50 ppm with low values
of 3 ppm in Jack O'Lantern roof (SR-50) and floor (SR-46) samples and a
high value of 100 ppm in Red Arrow roof and floor samples (SR-33). No
problems with toxicity or groundwater quality are anticipated.
Selenium lSe). A total of 10 Southfield samples were analyzed for
selenium. All values for these samples were -0.01 ppm with no high or low
values. With a suitability limit of 2.0 ppm, no problems with toxicity
or groundwater quality are anticipated.
Zinc (Zn). A total.of 10 Southfield samples were analyzed for zinc. The
average value of these samples was 3.9 ppm with a low value of 0.4 ppm in
a Red Arrow floor sample, (SR-46), and a high value of 5.4 ppm in a Jack
O'Lantern floor sample, (SR-50). The Montana Guidelines set the suspect
level for zinc at 40 ppm. Therefore, no problems with toxicity or
groundwater quality are anticipated.
Coal Analyses. Arithmetic average analysis values for the Jack O'Lantern
and Red Arrow Seams are presented in Table 9, Jack O'Lantern Raw Coal
Analysis, and Table 10, Red Arrow Raw Coal Analysis. These averages are
based on short proximate analyses of raw coal as taken from corehole
samples. Sulfur forms are represented as three distinct species:
o Percent Pyritic Sulfur
o Percent Sulfate Sulfur
o Percent Organic Sulfur
