topsoil storage represent approximately 0.42 acres disturbance. Site A (lower
excavation) is about 0.24 acres. Site B is a small pit, about 0.08 acres. The berm, storage
platform areas, washing area, and screening area represent another 0.06 acres. The
existing logging roads represent 0.25 acres. The Forest Service Road 211 and the turnout
are an additiona10.23 acres. This acreage amounts to 0.96 acres of the 4.5 permitted
acres presently disturbed. '
Additionally, numerous high graders have been entering the site and digging holes. This
disturbance may exceed 0.15 acres. All will be reclaimed as mining progresses.
A natural disturbance occurred during July 2006. The intermittent stream bordering the
west edge of the properties experienced flash-flooding. Huge quantities of sediment
filled the old channel, expanding outwards about 40 yards across and covering F.S. Road
21 I . Flash flooding occurred for over a quarter mile up the channel. Silt and debris
covered to within a foot of the tops of the fence line bordering the road. This flash
flooding did not enter the disturbance area under this permit.
Reclamation Accomplished durin 2g 007:
Nearly all the miscellaneous wood and garbage left by the previous operator was
removed from site. One wood platform was dismantled. Much of the downed timber was
cut and hauled away. Some reseeding was accomplished on the topsoil storage piles,
particularly where claim jumpers have continued to dig.
All dangerous pits where unauthorized digging has occurred were filled and temporarily
reseeded.
Reseeding accomplished during fall 2006 is doing well except for areas re-dug by claim
jumpers.
Previous :ieclamation 2006 and Prior:
The area in which the pipe was laid has been reclaimed. No other reclamation is apparent.
The topsoil storage pile and approximately one acre of relatively barren ground was
reseeded during fall, 2006.
Proposed 2008 Operations
Operations will consist of mostly hand digging and some work with a small backhoe.
Hand digging will occur during late April with some work being accomplished
throughout the summer.
Mechanized work will occur during late September and early October. The current
excavation at Site C will be extended north and east approximately 1,600 square feet.
