Colowyo Coal Company <br />ZOl07Annual Reclamation and Hydrology Report <br />i SECTION 8 -REGRADED OVERBURDEN SAMPLING <br />RULE REQUIREMENT <br />Sampling of regraded overburden is performed at a density of one sample per five <br />acres of regraded area (PAP Exhibit 6, Item #4, Colowyo letter of January 4, 1983). <br />Colowyo recognizes the potential for elevated SAR values (PAP page 2.04.6-9). <br />Threshold SAR values for special handling are identified as "suspect levels". The SAR <br />"suspect level" at Colowyo is 15 (PAP, Exhibit 6, Item #4, Colowyo letter of January <br />4, 1983). Remedial measures consist of additional samples to determine the extent of <br />the suspect material (PAP, Exhibit 6, Item #4, Colowyo letter of January 4, 1983). If <br />the aerial extent is greater than one acre, it is to be covered with at least five feet of <br />acceptable material. See Figure 8-1 for permit commitment documentation. <br />GENERAL DISCUSSION <br />2007 Sampling and Laboratory Analysis - Colowyo sampled 22 locations of regraded <br />overburden during 2007 (See Figure 8-3 for location of tracking sheet). No samples <br />exhibited SAR levels over 15. Specific overburden sample suspect levels can be <br />• referenced in Figure 8-2.
