2.06 Requirements For Permits For Special Categories of
Minin
2.06.1 Scope
This section set forth the minimum requirements for special
categories of surface mining and reclamation operations which are in
addition to all applicable permit application requirements and
procedures of Rule 2.
2.06.2 Experimental Practices Mining
Northfield is not proposing the use of alternative mining practices on
an experimental basis for the initial permit term. All mining practices
will be conducted within the environmental performance standards of
Rule 4.
2.06.3 Mountaintop Removal Mining
All mining will be done by underground mining methods at the
Northfield Mine. Consequently, the provisions of this section are not
applicable.
2.06.4 Steep Slope Mining
Mining operations will all be underground, therefor steep slopes will
. not be encountered during mining. Surface facilities and associated
operations will be located in low to moderate sloping terrain.
Construction of surface facility areas will not create any significant
sections of steep slopes, and resulting cut or fill slopes will generally
be constructed at grades of 3H:1V, or less. Final reclamation of areas
disturbed as a result of mining will result in regraded slopes of 3H: iV,
or less.
2.06.5 Permits Incorporating Variances from Aoaroximate
Original Contour Restoration Requirements for Steep Slope
Minin
All mining will be done by underground mining methods at the
Northfield Mine. Consequently, the provisions of this section are not
applicable.
2.06.6 Prime Farmlands
No prime farmlands have been identified in areas proposed to be
disturbed by Northfield's mining operations.
