See also Section 1.0 of the "Standard Work Specifications" included in CDMG General
Bid Specifications, 1993.
The CONTRACTOR shall exercise caution during mobilization, performance of all work
tasks, and demobilization in order to avoid damage to public and private property
including, but not limited to, pavements, soils, vegetation, water supplies, fences, walls,
structures, existing sediment ponds, landscaping etc. The CONTRACTOR shall repair
and restore public or private property damaged during the work at his expense.
The CONTRACTOR shall be fully responsible for any and all damage to property
caused by his equipment or personnel. The CONTRACTOR shall ensure that the job
site is restored to original or better condition and that the PROJECT MANAGER
accept that the work is complete.
Measurement and Payment
No measurement for payment shall be made for mobilization and demobilization. A
lump sum bid for mobilization and demobilization shall be reflected under Item 1 of the
Bid Schedule. Payment of two-thirds of the lump sum price will be made with the first
monthly progress payment after completion of the work described above for
mobilization. Payment of one-third of the lump sum price will be made with the final
progress payment for the work if demobilization has been completed. If the price bid for
mobilization and demobilization is greater than fifteen percent (15%) of the total
contract price, invoices supporting the mobilization costs will be required before payment
is approved.
TASK 2 EARTHWORK
OBJECTIVE
The overall objective of the earthwork task is to excavate waste borrow material from
the borrow location and place it against the existing cuts to reduce the slopes of the cuts.
A final topsoil cover will be excavated and placed over the final grades for revegetation.
During excavation, variable sized rock will be generated to be used for surface
drainageway construction.
The following quantities have been calculated to be used for earthwork. The following
volumes are ESTIMATIONS ONLY and are stated to give the prospective bidders an
idea of what yardage amounts are involved. The following figures are based on 3D maps
using AutoCOGO on the average end method using 50 ft. centers:
Waste for Fill 74,300 c.y.
Topsoil 16.200 c.y.
Total Excavation 90,500 c.y.
Prior to initiating earthwork tasks, any remaining structures, equipment or materials left
behind from the previous mining operation will be completely removed from the site.
5
