5:08 Both hawks now gone.
5:30 END OBSERVATIONS . No more raptors were observed. During the time I was at the site
I scanned the trees on and near the site with spotting scope or binoculars almost continuously.
There was no full moon like last week so it got dark a little earlier.
1 /14/07
4:47 PM Arrive at site. Sunset is at 4:59. There is very little wind. It is overcast and snowing.
The temperature is less than 10 degrees F.
There is an immature bald eagle or a golden eagle in the westernmost of the two large
cottonwoods north of the gate. It is perched in the top of the tree facing north (with its back to
me). No other raptors are present. Took 1 or 2 photos of the eagle through the spotting scope.
5:05 The eagle left. It flew northwest. When it took off there appeared to be some white in the
tail. So it is probably an immature bald eagle.
5:08 There is ared-tailed hawk in the large tree next to Shell's property. There is another red-tail
in a tree about 0.25 mi north of the tree next to Shell's.
5:20 Both red-tailed hawks have left.
5:38 END OBSERVATIONS. No more raptors were observed.
1/15/07
Examined photos taken on 1/14. They did not come out.
1/23/07
Snowstorm made it impractical to perform survey on Sunday 1/21. ~ A flat tire made it impractical
to perform survey on Monday 1/22.
5:03 PM Arrive at site. Sunset is at approximately 5:10. Gate is open. Parked in driveway facing
north. Temperature in high 30's. There is a breeze from the south. The ground is snow covered.
Sky is clear with scattered, high, thin clouds. No raptors in trees north of gate and next to Shell's
when I arrived.
5:15 Workers have left and gate is locked. I talked briefly with the foreman who said he hasn't
seen any eagles lately. Moved truck so it is facing east.
5:50 END OBSERVATIONS. No raptors were observed during this field session.
1/28/07
5:08 PM Amved at site and parked in driveway facing east. Sunset scheduled for 5:15. Temp is
in 30's, sky is clear, and the ground is snow covered. There is very little wind. No raptors were
present in trees on or near site when I arrived.
5:23 There is ared-tailed hawk in large tree next to Shell's property.
