6:15 A Buteo flew into the eastern of the two trees north of the gate. It has a light colored front.
Can no longer see the red-tail next to Shell's.
6:33 END OBS. Buteo still in the eastern tree on site. I can barely make it out.
3/12/07
6:55 PM MDT Arrive at site. Sunset at 7:03. Scattered high clouds. Temperature in 60's. Little
or no wind. Gate is open. Parked in driveway facing N. There is a raptor in the top of the
eastern tree north of the gate. No other raptors in other large trees on or near the site. The raptor
in the eastern tree is a Buteo. It has a light colored front. There are a few small branches in the
way so I can't see the markings.
7:05 The raptor flew to the large tree next to Shell's. It is ared-tailed hawk.
7:09 There is a raptor perched on an oil tank next to the driveway about 100 yds N of the gate.
The back is brown and white. Took 2 or 3 frames of the oil tank. Tried to take some pictures
through the spotting scope.
7:20 The raptor left the oil tank. It has a light colored front and isprobably ared-tailed hawk.
7:25 The red-tail in the tree next to Shell's flew back to the eastern tree north of the gate.
7:31 The red-tail apparently left the eastern tree or moved to another location in the tree while I
was looking at other trees. •
7:33 END OBSERVATIONS. No other raptors were observed.
