Re: Lakewood Brick and Tile Co. -Church Pit, Annual Report
MLRB Permit # M-7 ~ 5, Anniversary Date 2/28/08
This annual report addresses mining of both material being removed from the site. Each is
mined by a different operator under this single permit. This pit HAS NOT been granted a Temporary
Cessation and it HAS operated more than 180 days this year. The approved bond amount is $84,200
covering 75.74 acres ±, and the facility has seven mining and reclamation phases. Please refer to the
attached 2007-2008 Annual Report Map for the areas discussed in this text.
We will deal specifically with the Annual Report requirements as outlined in Rule 1.15 of the
Rules and Regulations and those noted in the annual letter.
(1) Clay - A 2.00 acres area was stripped and leveled this year for rock storage in the north west
part of Stage II. We continued to mine deeper on approximately 2.01 acres (///) on the land
previously disturbed (blue) north of the ditches in Stage II. Approximately 25.21 acres is
disturbed by the clay operation in Stages O, I and II. This included the old clay mined area
south of the ditches, the Clay Plant Site (purple).
Gravel - A total of 12.75 acres is being used as plant site area in Stage A (orange). No new
mining took place in Stage A this year. The 4.53 ac. ± mined in 2006 remains open. The
gravel operation has disturbed 28.42 acres ± in the mine (\\\). The gravel mined this year
came from the Rocky Flats Pit. Some waste rock was removed for use by the mineral owners
from the southwest pre-law stockpile area.
(2) No reclamation was required this year. Filling continued on the old clay mining area in the
green areas shown in Stage O. No additional reclamation is required until mining for both
materials is completed in any given stage. Stockpiles of growth medium are a located along
the west and south sides of the permit area.
