I think I have covered most of the bases. Who actually decides who is right and how much water
is needed? The engineer, the miner, or the farmer who has made it successfully work for 50
yeazs. Ross or Lance aze not farmers and most everything they have learned about farming has
been from me or other farmers in this azea. Trying to get bond release has been a trial and error
thing from the beginning. We all tried to tell them what they were trying to do in the 10"' year
was almost impossible in this area and let one of us try and explain to you guys and see what we
needed to do to make it work, but of course, that never happened. We would really like to meet
with you guys and show you some things. We aze begging you to please help us here. What the
coal mine is trying to do is VERY Wrong. They know it and we know it. As I am typing right
now, they are dumping our topsoil into the pit. According to Ross, they aze suppose to do two
lifts. Part of our second lift is going back into the pit with very muddy muddy conditions
surrounding them. It was my understanding that they weren't suppose to even touch this topsoil
when wet conditions exist because of the damages it does to your soil. This is why we would
like to meet with you. You don't have all the facts and as good of a spokes person as Ross is and
not being able to show you the otherside, it's easy to just go with the flow because you don't
understand everything there is to know about farming and irrigation that Ross is trying to
convince you of. It sounds good, but they are a distortion of facts.
I am enclosing the picture. This is of the boys at the "Sunshine Place" that Ross is wanting to
change to dryland, a copy of the lease, a copy of the certified "Default letter", which there may be
another one by morning, and a copy of the minutes which Ross did. I thank you very much for
your time. We hope to meet with you and see you soon. The sooner, the better. Thank you
again for all that you guys aze doing to try and make this right.
Sincerely,
Ellen Turner
