It was
noted by Greg Lewicki and Jim Boyd that the NRCS Soil
Mapping from the San Miguel Soit Survey would still be the
official soils mapping to figure "correction factors° that would be
used to correct actual grass production vs the IP Reference
Area. Everyone agreed and the subject was closed. In
conclusion, WFC will still retain the IP Reference Area, and
everything related to it. All of this will be incorporated into TR-
k
57.
Item 9: Anew Post Mine Vegetation type was discussed An "Improved Pasture"
(Imp-P1 was kicked around to better describe what would be planted west of
County Road 2700.
1 Sandy Brown and Mike Boulay from the Division made a comment
stating that they had receive numerous calls and letters by Nucla
citizens stating their displeasure with the term Dryland Pasture. Sandy
felt there was some deep seated correlation between how the Peabody
reclamation in Second Park was done and the word "Dryland Pasture".
Sandy suggested that a new name for reclamation that had received the
approved amounts and types of topsoil, along with additional soil
preparation and have a source for future irrigation would be helpful. A
name of "Improved Pasture" was suggested and everyone thought
that would be a good a name as any.
2. The Definition of "Improved Pasture" will be;
a. The topsoil will be whatever the topsoil salvage and replacement
type is for the parcel of land in question. If it is replacement soil
is Prime Farmland Soil, then that is what it will be. If the
replacement soil will be mixed, then that is what it will be.
