The project appears to be a straight forward request to expand the permit area. A review
of the application has only a few minor clarifications and issues to address.
1) Please provide a. legal description that describes the proposed additional acreage, Exhibit "A" provided by
the applicant desicribes the original permit acreage and does not include the proposed additional acreage.
2) Per Rule 6.4.3(d), please provide maps that detail the proposed added permit area. The maps provided only
identify the exisl:ing permit boundary and the outlines of the parcels to be added to the permit area.
3) Per Rule 6.4.3(e), please specify the type of present vegetation covering the proposed affected lands.
4) Our records search with the Office of the State Engineer (Division of Water Resources) indicates that Well
Permit No. 59661 is no longer in good standing. If this well permit is brought in to good standing will it cover evaporative loss
from the expansiion of the pit area?
5) Per Rule 6.4.4(e), please provide more information as to the predicted timeline of the mining operation. The
information provided only covers 8 acres in the summer of 2008.
6) In Exhibit "C", what is meant by of Phase I to take place immediately following and to be completed by
summer 2006? ][s this supposed to say summer of 2008?
7) Per Rule 6.4.6, please submit a reclamation map that shows the proposed permit boundary of additional
permit area, and be sure that each phase of the mine is identified. Also, be sure to include the proposed final
elevations.
8) Per Rule 6.4.7, the operation is expected to directly affect the groundwater system within the permit area
through exposure. Please locate on the map (in Exhibit C) tributary water courses, wells, springs, stock
water ponds, reservoirs, and ditches on the affected land and on adjacent lands where such structures may
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver Grand Junction Durango Active and Inactive Mines
