STOCKPILE CONSTRUCTION:
TOPSOIL: Topsoil will be stockpiled immediately after removal. Stockpiles will have a maximum slope of
1:1, and will be stabilized against erosion as necessary as they are completed. Since mined areas will
generally be stripped immediately prior to mining, and have topsoil replaced as part of reclamation within 12
months of stripping, stockpiles will not be vegetated (seeded and mulched). If stockpiles remain longer than
12 months, seeding would be done in the fall, as recommended by NRCS. Stockpile sizes will vary based
on terrain but will generally be 500 feet long, 60 feet wide and 30 feet high, while set back from the planned
final highwall for that area a minimum of 20 feet. Soil stripped from plant sites will be used as berms around
the areas, but will also be available for sale.
"EXCESS": Fines from washing and screening will be placed in shallow sediment basins, with the intent of
using the filled basins as part of final post-mining grade. These fines will be able to be treated and used as
subsoil and backfill, for reclamation.
RAW AND PROCESSED MATERIALS: As much as possible, there will belittle or no stockpiles of raw or
processed materials: excavated material will be moved directly to the plant hoppers and trucks will be
McStone Aggregates, LLC 15 FEB 2008 ©WASTELINE, INC 2008 PN 5006.1-4(009)
