Sherman
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trusiee
The Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety (DBMS) has been in discussions with Nuvemco, LLC.
regarding changes to the above referenced permitted site. Several issues have clouded the exact
disturbance and permitted areas for this site and the Monogram-Jo Dandy Mines, permit no. M-1977-
293. These issues come primarily from past permit communications that overlap, cross references to
both permits and use of unfamiliar names for structures and locations.
DBMS staff went through an extensive on site review with past operator International Uranium. A map
was produced dated 6/23/2003 that shows all the agreed upon disturbances covered under the permits for
both sites. Here again, the combination of both permits and sites on one map has still left some
questions as to what is what. These maps show claim boundaries primarily with permitted disturbances
within them. If one takes the acreages of each of the satellite sites it does add up to the permitted
acreages.
To move forward, DBMS is suggesting the Nuvemco review and complete one of the following two
options:
1) Request a full release of the Monogram Mine Permit and submit a new permit application with
the proposed new permit configuration as has been discussed. This is a clean break from the past
and would terminate the issues outright..
2) The second option is some what more complicated but in the end should reach the same point of
breaking away from past issues and moving forward. Nuvemco would need to do the following:
a) Request a partial release for all permitted lands under M-1977-222 except the bobtail
portal area or a portion thereof, noted on the above referenced map under Rule 4.14.
b) Once the partial release was granted, Nuvemco would then be able to amend the permit
from the Bobtail site to bring in new "technically" undisturbed acreage back up to a
continuous 9.9 as represented on the preliminary map supplied to staff on our last visit.
Office of
Office of Active and Inactive Mines
Mined Land Reclamation Denver Grand Junction Durango
