-7v <br />The Haplaquolls soil is very deep and very poorly or <br />poorly drained. It formed in alluvium. The surface layer <br />is grayish brown sandy loam, loam, or clay loam 7 to 22 <br />inches thick. The underlying material is gray stratified <br />sand, loamy sand, sandy loam, loam, clay loam, or clay. In <br />some places sand or extremely gravelly sand is at a depth of <br />10 to 60 inches. <br />Permeability of the HapIaquoIls soils is moderate to <br />rapid. Available water capacity.is low to high. Effective <br />rooting depth is 60 inches or more for water-tolerant plants <br />and iii to to inches for plants sensitive to a high water <br />table. Runoff is slow or ponded, and the hazard of water <br />erosion is slight. The hazard of soil blowing is slight., A <br />high water- table is at or near- the surface during the spring <br />and early summer. In some areas the water table remains <br />above a depth of 1 foot throughout the year wh i I e in other <br />areas the water- table is at a depth of 1 to 3 feet during <br />late summer, fall, and winter. The hazard of flooding is <br />frequent. <br />This unit is used for livestock grazing and wildlife <br />habitat. <br />Native vegetation on this unit varies from area to area <br />but consists mainly of rushes, sedges, cattails, and <br />willows. <br />This map unit is in capability subclass VIw. <br /> <br />
