For channels requiring riprap, the PADER Method is used to estimate the required rock size. However,
based on SCC experience, the PADER Method seems to underestimate the required rock size, so SCC
adds 3 inches to the rock Dso size required for design purposes. For further protection of the channel bed,
a layer of geotextile fabric is installed prior to placement of the riprap.
