deadhead in the drainage itself. Exhibit 13-15 provides the anticipated cut and fill work
• to be done in the drainage and also shows the clearances needed under each of the four
powerlines. Table 1 contains the volumes associated with the work underneath the
powerllnea. The road will travel 600 feet to [he south when leaving the drainage. The
final 1700-foot section will head to the southeast, tying back into Haul Road "A" a[
Station 61+00. This entire section of road will be approximately 60 foot wide. The
dragline will then follow the rest of Haul Roads "A^ and "B' to the boxcut stripping area.
Dragline Movement .
The 650-B Ss considered a ualklnq dragline. Th15 means there are two walking shoes
located on each side of the machine. The shoes are connected to a large shaft by means of
cams that are attached to the frame of the machine. When the dragline Ss Sn.a digging
motion and sitting on its base Itub/, these shoes are Sn an elevated position and rotate
with the upper house as the machine swings on circular rails and rollers.
When the machine 15 ready to be moved, the operator swings the revolving frame until the
rear of the machine Ss pointetl Sn the direction of travel. The propel mechanism will be
• engaged and the motors begin to rotate the walking shaft. The first quarter turn of the
shaft will move the shoes toward the back end cf the machlr.e and as the eccentric shaft
continues to move, the shoes will contact the ground well behind the center of gravity.
As the shaft continues to totals, the rear of the machine Ss raised. Whert the machine
house is raised, Sifting hooks will then raise the rear portion of the tub almost
vertically. The third quarter of cotatlon on the shaft will move the shoes horizontally
toward Che front of the machine, which Sn turn will cause the machine to move backward
with the front of the tub dragging the ground. The center of gravity of the machine is
slightly forward of the propel shaft so that only the rear of the machine is raised. The
function of the walking mechanism Ss not to lift the entire machine off the ground during
walking. It is meant to raise the rear edge of the tub and slide the front edge over the
ground. On the last quarter cycle of the propel shaft, the shoes will gently lower the
tub to the ground and raise the shoes to a digging position. This cycle Ss then
continuously repeated. The method for steering the dragline allows turns Sn any degree
without disturbing additional ground. A minimum road width of 60 feet viii be required to
walk the dragline safely. Some specific statistics for the 650-B are:
Length of step 7'6"
• Walking speed 0.18 mph
Ground-bee ring pressure 9.6 psi
13-10-3 Revised 08/23/96
