' 10 Instrumentation
Twelve vibrating wire piezometers have been installed by Barr in addition to the five that were
installed by previous consultants (see Appendix A). It is anticipated that all of these will remain
operable during and after construction, as no fill will be placed at any of the locations containing
instrumentation.
The inclinometers installed by Western Engineers (1993) provided valuable information regarding
the location of the landslide failure surface. They were sheared off, however, within one to two years
after they were installed. They will not be read in the future so they do not need to be protected
during construction, but it is not anticipated that any fill will be placed on them.
After construction is completed, it is anticipated that a number of survey mirrors will be placed on
and around the dam to monitor long-term movement. They will be read by a robotic total station
located atop the mountain north of the dam.
P:\Mpls\06 CO\26\0626067\WorkFiles\DesignReport\FINAL\DesignReportFINAL.doc 46
