SECTION 02370 <br />EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION CONTROL <br />PART 1: GENERAL <br />1.01 DESCRIPTION <br />A. All Work included in this Section shall be performed in accordance with the following <br />paragraphs and the provisions of the other Contract Documents. <br />B. Work covered under this Section includes providing all materials, equipment, and labor to protect <br />slopes including, but not limited to: <br />1. Provide temporary interim erosion control to meet the requirements of all applicable Laws <br />and Regulations, including but not limited to the regulations of: <br />a. USDA Forest Service -Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests <br />b. Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety (DBMS) <br />c. Colorado Division of Water Resources (DWR) -Office of the State Engineer <br />d. General Storm Water Permit for Construction Activity (NPDES/SDS Permit) (if <br />required) <br />2. Prevent transport of soil materials from the sites of the Work in compliance with this <br />Section of the Specifications and all applicable Laws and Regulations. <br />1.02 REFERENCES <br />A. Colorado Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge <br />Construction, 2005 Edition, hereafter referred to as CDOT Standard Specifications. <br />B. American Society for Testing and Materials, Current Edition, hereafter referred to as ASTM. <br />C. Authorization to Discharge Stormwater Associated with Construction Activity Under the <br />National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System/State Disposal System Permit Program. <br />D. Best Management Practices (BMP's) for erosion control. <br />E. USDA Forest Service -Region 2 Water Conservation Practices Handbook BMP's. <br />1.03 SEQUENCING AND SCHEDULING <br />A. Construct erosion control measures specified in this Section prior to commencing construction <br />excavation activities. <br />B. Maintain and replace the erosion controls for the duration of the construction as necessary in <br />accordance with this Section of the Specifications. <br />02370-1 <br />
