SECTION 02249 <br />CONTROL OF WATER <br />PART 1: GENERAL <br />1.01 DESCRIPTION <br />A. All Work included in this Section shall be performed in accordance with the following <br />paragraphs and the provisions of the other Contract Documents. <br />B. The Work covered by this Section consists of furnishing all labor, equipment, materials, and <br />performing all operations necessary to control all surface water and all groundwater as necessary <br />to construct the Work, all in accordance with these Specifications and the other Contract <br />Documents. This Work shall include the provision, operation and maintenance of pumps and/or <br />dewatering systems along with any temporary berms or barriers, ditches, channels, aggregates, <br />water plugs, or temporary piping necessary to allow the proper construction of the Work. <br />C. Control of Water includes the control of surface water, groundwater, groundwater seepage, snow <br />melt water, storm water on and draining to the site, and any other dewatering activities. <br />1.02 ENVIIZONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS <br />A. CONTRACTOR shall carry out the control of water in compliance with all Federal, State and <br />local applicable stream discharge and pollution requirements, and all Laws and Regulations. <br />' B. Water that is dischazged from the site shall not violate standazds set forth in the Clean Water Act <br />of 1977, nor violate the standazds of other applicable Laws and Regulations, including but not <br />limited to the regulations of <br />1. USDA Forest Service <br />2. Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety (DBMS) <br />' 3. Colorado Division of Water Resources (DWR) -Office of the State Engineer. <br />C. Water that is discharged from the site shall be discharged in a manner in accordance with: <br />1. USDA Forest Service -Region 2 Water Conservation Practices Handbook BMP's <br />1.03 SUBMITTALS <br />' A. CONTRACTOR Work Plan. Prior to construction, submit to COMPANY for information and <br />documentation a detailed plan outlining the proposed methods and sequences as detailed.in <br />Section 01110 Summary of Work of the Specifications. The Work Plan shall include proposed <br />' methods for water control and dewatering. <br />B. Any water control and/or dewatering activities shall be recorded and submitted for proof of <br />' specification compliance as part of the Project Record Document Set and as required by any <br />applicable Laws and Regulations. <br />02249-1 <br />
