These lands
are described as follows:
Township 12 South, Range 91 West, 6th P.M.
Section 27: S/2, NW/4, S/2NE/4
Containing 560 acres, more or less.
Surface ownership is shown on Map 4, Surface Ownership. Coal ownership is shown on
Map 5, Sun`ace Ownership.
Topography
The terrain of the XPA is moderately rugged. Elevations vary from approximately 8,200 feet
in the northwest corner of the XPA to 6,560 feet where Hubbard Creek exits the XPA for a
maximum relief of about 1,640 feet. Topography is shown on Map 2, Topography & Drill
Hole Locations.
The XPA boundary includes a portion of Iron Point Gulch and Hubbard Creek. The XPA
also includes the ridge that separate Iron Point Gulch from Alder Creek.
• Travel access is gained from the south through the Bowie No. 2 Mine. The major access is
a road along Terror Creek, Terror Creek Reservoir then southeast to the drill site on Iron
Point.
Surface Water
The XPA is located on the north side of the valley of the North Fork of the Gunnison
River, known locally and less formally as the North Fork River. The North Fork is
part of the Colorado River system. It is a perennial stream, formed by the joining of
Anthracite Creek and Muddy Creek approximately nine miles east of the plan area,
immediately downstream from the Paonia Dam and Reservoir
•
